What
is London Clean & Green ?
The City of
London and its partners
in London Clean & Green have established this
website to help Londoners and London-area
businesses keep our city Clean & Green.
London Clean & Green coordinates the work of
various organizations in cleaning up London
parks, roadways, business sites, schoolyards,
and the Thames River during the spring period.
What
is London Clean & Green Community Cleanup Day?
In 2013, April 20
will be the day when thousands of Londoners
will work together to help 'clean and green' neighbourhoods and parks around our city. We
will pick up litter, remove graffiti and plant
trees. Numerous designated meeting sites have
been identified where volunteers can register,
receive information and instruction, and get
equipped with garbage bags. Other locations
can be added anywhere in the city by registering
through the Citys website and students
can earn community service hours as part of
their high school commitment. Please join us!
When you do, you can be proud of being part
of a growing trend across Ontario, Canada and
North America that happens every April.

What
is the Thames River Clean Up?
This is a parallel
clean up event, also on April 20 and is
hosted by Upper Thames River Conservation Area &
NOAH Conservation Club. Volunteers pick
up garbage along the Thames River and its tributaries.
If you would like to participate in this event

Upper
Thames River Conservation Authority Clean
Up.

London
Clean and Green Background Information
London
Clean and Green originated about fourteen years ago
as a single day event aimed at gathering volunteers
to clean up the garbage and graffiti in London's
downtown core. Over the years the event grew
to include more volunteers, to cover a larger
area, and involve a variety of organizations.
London
Clean and Green welcomes and appreciates the
effort that any individual or organization would
like to give to improve or preserve the environmental
wellbeing of our community. However, London
Clean and Green believes in positive promotion
and not advocacy or activism. Because of this
we ask that anyone wishing to participate with
the London Clean and Green be: organizing an
event that promotes positive environmental stewardship
OR providing financial or in-kind (materials,
services, volunteers, etc.) donations to an
existing event.
If
you would like to have your environmental event
included among the area's most successful, if
you would like to donate some well needed materials
to a good cause, or if you want to offer your
own time to help improve our environment, consider
joining the London Clean and Green team.

How
Can I Get Involved?
Easy! Read the
Registration
Information and register for a designated
neighbourhood site or go to the Upper Thames River
Conservation Authority web site and sign-up for a designated
Thames
River site.
We Need
To Hear From You
Whatever your
choice, please be sure to register. Registering
helps to ensure your local clean up is a success
and that you have the support of London Clean
& Green. Registering helps to measure our
success in terms of number of volunteers, areas
cleaned up and the amount of garbage collected.
We also want to be able to acknowledge your
efforts.
When you register, London Clean & Green
will provide the appropriate number of garbage
bags for your group. (Bags are available only
while supplies last, so register early.)
Thank you
for helping us help the environment.
